North Light Truss

The North Light Truss represents one of the oldest and most cost-effective solutions for spanning large areas, particularly suited for industrial workshops with shorter roof spans. This structural system features a series of trusses supported by girders, designed with an asymmetrical profile to optimize natural lighting.

The truss's distinctive design incorporates a steeper glazed surface typically oriented north or northeast. This strategic positioning maximizes daylight penetration while minimizing solar heat gain. A secondary truss often runs perpendicular to the primary North Light truss along the steep slope, creating expansive column-free spaces ideal for industrial operations.

Beyond its structural efficiency, the North Light system offers sustainability benefits by reducing reliance on artificial lighting, thereby lowering operational carbon emissions. Saw-tooth Truss

As an evolution of the North Light concept, the Saw-tooth Truss adapts this principle for multi-bay structures. Maintaining the characteristic perpendicular secondary truss on vertical faces, this variant provides similar advantages of natural illumination while accommodating more complex building configurations. The repeating saw-tooth profile offers consistent lighting distribution across wider floorplates, making it particularly effective for large-scale manufacturing facilities.
